Shop Rite put their chrysanthemums on sale this week for $1.99 each, so we scooped up a bunch in various colors. After having them brighten the kitchen and the porch for a week-or-so, we are going to be planting them in the yard. Many local gardeners seem to plant them every year while they are flowering and then throw them out; I don't know if these plants don't last over the winter or if the homeowners are just wasting beautiful perennials.
